Multiple DON’T NOD games “did not achieve the commercial results we had hoped for”

DON’T NOD hit it big with the release of the much loved choice-based adventure game Life is Strange back in 2015. Since leaving the IP behind however, the studio has struggled to replicate this success. Unfortunately, it seems their most recent projects have not done too much to help swing the pendulum in the other direction.

As part of the company’s most recent fiscal reports, DON’T NOD offered investors insight into the studio’s current status, with Oskar Guilbert – Chairman and CEO – saying:

“We are obviously disappointed by our recent performance in an extremely competitive and selective market. Despite an excellent critical reception, Jusant and Banishers: Ghosts of new Eden unfortunately did not achieve the commercial results we had hoped for, resulting in a deterioration in our 2024 half-year results and leading us to consider all possible options regarding our roadmap.”

In discussing this revamped roadmap, DON’T NOD revealed that there remains a strong amount of hope in their upcoming new IP Lost Records. Beyond this, the team also have two unannounced projects in the works – both set for release in 2027.

Unfortunately, it seems as though some projects have been negatively impacted, as two other in-development titles have reportedly now been put on ice.

Of their 10 total releases since being founded in 2008, 9 of DON’T NOD’s  games are completely new and original IPs. While many have unfortunately not succeeded in the way they’d wanted, hopefully DON’T NOD are able to find their next Life is Strange.
