Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus specs revealed

Today Qualcomm expands its line-up of Snapdragon X processors. We've already seen the Snapdragon X Elite, but now, our attention turns to the new Snapdragon X Plus, a cheaper 8-core CPU that will debut in CoPilot+ PCs later this month.

The launch is taking place here at IFA this week. Like with the Snapdragon X Elite, the new Snapdragon X Plus aims to offer best-in-class battery life and efficiency, while remaining powerful enough to run AI-powered applications, thanks to its combination of Oryon CPU, NPU and integrated graphics.

In the table below you can see the full spec comparison between the Snapdragon X Elite and the Snapdragon X Plus CPUs:

SKU CPU Cores Cache Max Clock Speed iGPU (TFLOPS) NPU (TOPS) LPDDR5x Speed (MT/s)
Snapdragon X Elite 12 42MB 4.3GHz 4.6 45 8488
Snapdragon X Elite 12 42MB 4.2GHz 4.6 45 8488
Snapdragon X Elite 12 42MB 4.0GHz 3.8 45 8488
Snapdragon X Elite 12 42MB 3.4GHz 3.8 45 8488
Snapdragon X Plus 10 42MB 3.4GHz 3.8 45 8488
Snapdragon X Plus 8 30MB 3.4GHz 1.7 45 8488

As you can see, while the NPU and memory speeds remain consistent across all SKUs, there are changes to the CPU and GPU depending on model. While all four Snapdragon X Elite SKUs have 12 CPU cores, the iGPU is cut down in some of the cheaper versions. The 10-Core Snapdragon X Plus has an iGPU on par with the cheapest Snapdragon X Elite, but the 8-core Snapdragon X Plus is geared towards very thin and light laptops, with performance capped at 1.7GHz.

The first laptops featuring Snapdragon X Plus processors will be available this month, from OEMs like HP, Lenovo and Acer.
