We're expecting AMD's cheaper A620 chipset motherboards to launch any day now. However, unlike previous generations, AMD might be planning two different versions of its entry-level chipset.
Like the AMD B650 and X670 series motherboards, the upcoming A620 will use Promontory 21 as their base chips. However, according to HKEPC, AMD will also release a new version of the A620 featuring an unknown chip, presumably the upcoming Promontory 22.
There will be two versions of the AMD A620 chip, the "Promontory 21" chip will be used at the beginning, and the new A620 chip (Promontory 22 ??) will be launched later with the same specifications.

Despite featuring different chips, the two motherboards will offer the same specification. As such, both versions should support DDR5 memory and lack any overclocking capabilities. Considering the standard B650 motherboards don't support PCIe 5.0 connectivity, we expect the same will happen with A620, limiting them to PCIe 4.0 devices.
We've already seen a few EEC listings of A620 motherboards, suggesting it shouldn't be long before they release. As for pricing, AMD promised there would be 600-series motherboards starting at $125, but motherboard makers can raise prices as they see fit based on the feature set and build quality.

KitGuru says: If AMD releases A620 motherboards using Promontory 22 chips, the company might do the same to the B650 and X670 boards too. Hopefully, that change would result in a lower manufacturing cost and retail price.
