Obsidian leads reiterate their desires for a Fallout New Vegas remaster

In the decade since its release, Fallout New Vegas has only increased its cache in the minds of fans, with many claiming it to be their favourite entry in the series. Despite this, the game has not received any form of official enhancements. According to Obsidian Entertainment however, a remaster of Fallout New Vegas would be “awesome.”

Obsidian Entertainment recently announced that The Outer Worlds would be getting a PS5 and Series X|S remaster in the form of the “Spacer’s Choice Edition”. In the wake of this, Obsidian game directors Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky spoke to publication TheGamer, revealing that the two would love to see a “graphical remaster” of Fallout New Vegas.

Similarly, The Outer Worlds’ production director Eric DeMilt claimed that while graphics have never been Obsidian's top priority, there is certainly potential for the New Vegas remaster, adding that “When it came out, it had stability issues. It's overcome those and now people are able to go back to that game, because those characters and the stories are just rich, and people want to be in there.”

Following the acquisition of Bethesda by Microsoft in 2021 we have heard a great deal about a potential Fallout New Vegas 2. While this would be highly welcome, given the first game’s age it would make sense for a remaster of the game to be released first. Even if a sequel doesn’t end up happening Fallout New Vegas is two generations old and so could certainly do with a facelift – even if the current aesthetic still holds up.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Obsidian’s statement? Would you like to see a remaster of Fallout New Vegas? What about a sequel? Let us know down below.
