Last week, it was revealed that Xbox console-exclusive shooter, CrossfireX, would be leaving Game Pass this month. At the time we thought that perhaps the exclusivity deal had run its course and that the game may now head to other platforms. However, as it turns out, publisher Smilegate is pulling the plug and shutting down the game.
Smilegate Entertainment has confirmed plans to shut down CrossfireX, removing both the multiplayer mode and the single-player campaign from Remedy Entertainment. The game will be closing its servers on the 18th of May and access to the single-player campaigns will also be revoked at this time.
With the servers set to shut down in just a few months, Smilegate has also halted all sales of the game. Moving forward, there will be no new content released, so if you are still playing this game, don't expect any new maps, modes, in-game skins or any other updates.
If you just bought this game in the last 14 days, then you should be eligible for a refund, but there are no guarantees. You can find more details on that, HERE.

KitGuru Says: CrossfireX barely lasted a year following its poorly received console launch. Hopefully Smilegate's next console game arrives in a better state.
