Tekken 8 will release by March 2024

Throughout 2022, Bandai Namco had teased and shown off the much-anticipated Tekken 8 on a number of occasions. Despite the marketing, neither a date nor even a year was offered regarding when fans can expect to get their hands on the title. Fortunately, we now have a release window.

As part of Bandai Namco’s financial report (and translated by ResetEra user ‘Reyes’), the publisher held a Q&A answering a variety of questions ranging from the sales performance of One Piece Odyssey to the production of Gundam model kits. The most interesting question however pertained to the much-anticipated Tekken 8, asking “Please tell us about the anticipated new home video game titles that you plan to release from the next fiscal year onwards.”

In response, Bandai Namco revealed that “From the next fiscal year onwards, new titles in the Tekken series and joint development with FromSoftware have been decided. We are planning to release ‘ARMORED CORE,’ which will be released in Japan, and titles developed by overseas studios.”

Bandai Namco’s fiscal year begins on the 1st of April and concludes on the 31st of March, meaning the publisher expects Tekken 8 to release by the end of March 2024 at the latest. The other title mentioned – Armored Core – has already been announced to be releasing sometime in 2023 and so this news is not surprising.

Fighting games typically have relatively long marketing tails and it seems Tekken 8 might continue this trend. That said, it is encouraging to know that the game should be in players’ hands sometime within the next 417 days at the latest.
