AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D confirmed to have six active cores per CCD

With the Ryzen 9 7900X3D CPU now available, many have had a chance to take a closer look at the chip and how it was built. Under the hood, you'll find two six-core CCDs, with the same L3 cache configuration as the Ryzen 9 7950X3D.

This information comes from Andreas Schilling, who got official confirmation from AMD. Andreas also shared a picture illustrating how L3 cache and cores are distributed for each Ryzen 7000X3D series CPU. As expected from the Ryzen 9 7950X3D, this one comes with two CCDs fully enabled, from which one has 32MB+64MB of L3 cache (3D V-Cache), and the other only has 32MB of L3 cache. With 128MB of L3 cache, the 16-core processor has 8MB of L3 cache per core.

Surprisingly, the Ryzen 9 7900X3D has two CCDs with the same L3 cache configuration as the Ryzen 9 7950X3D. However, the core configuration differs, as each CCD only has six cores enabled (10.7MB of L3 cache per core). Lastly, there's the Ryzen 7 7800X3D with a single fully enabled 8-core CCD with 32MB of L3 cache and an additional 64MB of 3D V-Cache, featuring 12MB of L3 cache per core.

Two of the AMD Ryzen 7000X3D series chips are already available for purchase. These are the Ryzen 9 7950X3D and the Ryzen 9 7900X3D. The Ryzen 7 7800X3D is expected to launch in April.

KitGuru says: Due to the lack of reviews of the Ryzen 7900X3D, we still don't know how well the six-core CCD design works but with the CPU now available, it won't be long before we start seeing it put to the test.
