Bethesda acquires Nemesys Games

Microsoft’s planned purchase of Activision Blizzard is still ongoing, but that has not stopped the console manufacturer from engaging in other acquisitions, with Bethesda now having acquired the Budapest-based Nemesys Games.

As reported by Timur222, the Budapest-based Nemesys Games has been acquired by Bethesda for an unknown sum, with the studio being rebranded to Zenimax Online Studios – Hungary. Prior to its acquisition, Nemesys Games was known as an outsourcing studio “with special focus on engineering and back-end services for AAA studios.”

Interestingly, the acquisition seemingly occurred late last year however it was only just discovered due to the low-key nature of the purchase. The newly-branded ‘Zenimax Online Studios – Hungary’ spoke briefly on their role within Bethesda, stating that “We have been working on many aspects of their flagship title Elder Scrolls Online as well as unannounced projects. We are proud to be the partner of such a high caliber AAA studio.”

The Elder Scrolls Online has of course been operating for almost a decade now and so while it is exciting to see the game getting additional support, it will be interesting to see the unannounced projects in the works.
