Forspoken demo updated with major quality-of-life improvements

Forspoken is the next major PlayStation 5 exclusive game set to release, with the open-world Action-JRPG launching in just a few short days. Being a new IP with a unique combat system, Forspoken certainly has somewhat of an uphill battle in order to prove itself to skeptics. Fortunately, the best way to do so is by getting the game into the hands of players, and while a demo was previously released in early December 2022, it has now been updated with major quality-of-life fixes.

It’s not often that you see game demos updated, but the team at Square Enix and Luminous Productions seem to be committed to making Forspoken as appealing as possible, with the update to the demo including the following changes:

  • Button mapping functionality has been added.
  • Locked-on enemies that move off-screen will remain locked-on longer.
  • Certain text sizes have been adjusted.
  • Various technical issues have been fixed.

One of the greatest complaints by those who tried out the demo was its controls and so it is encouraging to see the team allowing players to alter the control scheme as they desire. Furthermore, the change to the enemy lock-on should also aid players in maintaining control and awareness over the ensuing encounters.

Hopefully the team continues to tweak and improve the game ahead of its launch on the 24th of January.
