Valheim launched in Early Access on the 2nd of February 2021 to almost immediate success, selling 2 million copies in under two weeks and going on to surpass 10 million copies by July of last year. Following its success on PC, the sandbox survival game is soon set to come to Xbox and console Game Pass in under a month.
Announced during IGN’s 2023 Fan Fest, developer Iron Gate Studio and publisher Coffee Stain revealed that following two years on the PC platform, Valheim is set to finally come to Xbox on the 14th of March 2023.
It seems as though Valheim will continue to operate under the Early Access banner even once it has been released on Xbox. That said, in the two years since its initial launch Valheim has been updated with a decent amount of new content.
September 2021 saw the game’s first major content update in the form of “Hearth & Home” adding general improvements to the game while also introducing new items and more. After a very lengthy wait, we finally received the “Mistlands” update in December 2022, bringing with it a whole host of new content, enemies, bosses, NPCs and so much more.
While it may be a few years past the game’s zeitgeist, Valheim is still a huge title and with the most recent Mistlands update is better than ever. Xbox users of all recent generations will be able to enjoy Valheim when it launches via Game Preview on Xbox One and Xbox Series as well as console Game Pass on the 14th of March.
