Microsoft has started off the year well with the surprise release of the rhythm-action game HI-FI Rush, with other major Xbox heavy hitters such as Redfall and Starfield planned to be coming out over the months. That said, there are still many other Xbox titles deep in development – with an insider now offering greater ‘insight’ into how the work is progressing.
Andy Robinson of VGC is a well-known insider who as part of the latest VGC podcast offered an interesting look into the development status of many of Xbox’s biggest first-party titles.
As mentioned, we already know that Redfall and Starfield are planned for release this year. According to Robinson, following Starfield will be Obsidian Entertainment’s Avowed as well as the long-announced Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga from Ninja Theory (though it is unknown which of the two will release first).
Looking further forward into the future, the troubled development of Fable seems to have (hopefully) calmed down, with the game said to finally be in full development. Unfortunately, those hoping to hear from Perfect Dark and Everwild anytime soon will likely be disappointed as according to Robinson these two titles are “not close,”
Luckily, Xbox fans still have plenty to look forward to in 2023, and so these titles being further-out will hopefully not be too big of a deal – even if some of these games have been in development for quite some time now.
