The Wolf Among Us 2 has been in the making for years. In 2022, the game was re-revealed with a 2023 release date. However, the studio behind the game has decided to push the game back further in an effort to avoid crunch and employee burnout.
Speaking with IGN, Telltale Games CEO, Jamie Ottilie, explained that while work is “proceeding well” on the game, there are a number of areas that the team wants to put extra work into, including redoing certain portions of the game, including moving the game over to Unreal Engine 5. Unfortunately, switching engines is a time-consuming process, but the studio deems it worth it.
In order to meet the previously announced 2023 release window, the studio would have had to crunch to meet deadlines. Instead of going through that, Ottilie says the studio felt it would just be best to delay the game a bit longer so they can ensure a polished product at release, without burning out the employees working hard on the game.
The Wolf Among Us 2 will pick up six months after the events of the first game, which was released way back in 2013. Our main protagonist, Bigby, will spend time exploring Fabletown and New York City, all while attempting to solve a case. The game will also see the return of several characters from the first game, with many of the original voice actors reprising their roles.
The Wolf Among Us 2 will now release sometime in 2024 and will presumably still have an episodic release, just as previous Telltale games did.

KitGuru Says: The Wolf Among Us 2 is going to take a bit longer, but it sounds like this delay decision was made with all of the right reasons in mind.
