Star Wars Jedi: Survivor director wants to make a third game

Respawn surprised us all with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and the studio is heading back for round two with a sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, later this year. This won't necessarily spell the end for this series though, as the director behind both projects has plans to potentially turn this into a trilogy.

Speaking with IGN this week, Star Wars Jedi director, Stig Asmussen, revealed that he has “always wanted to see this as a trilogy”. While no third game has been confirmed yet, Asmussen already has some ideas in mind for where to take protagonist Cal Kestis next.

“I always wanted to see this as a trilogy”, Asmussen said. “We had a pretty decent idea of the timeframe where we wanted Survivor to take place, what the stakes were going to be, what the tone of the game was going to be, what Cal was going to be up against, and how the crew was going to factor into that. And there are ideas of what we could do beyond that as well.”

While Fallen Order and Survivor were both developed with Unreal Engine 4, Asmussen says that this hypothetical third game would likely make the jump to Unreal Engine 5.

If the reception to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor holds up, then EA will likely begin exploring a third game, but don't expect any official public announcements in the immediate future. Speaking of Survivor, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was recently delayed, pushing its release back from March 17th to the 28th of April.
