Wo Long Fallen Dynasty breaks records for publisher Koei Tecmo

Team Ninja has made a name for themselves over the past half-decade or so for creating hardcore and mechanically interesting Souls-likes which are imbued with their own unique traits and personalities – making for games which stand on their own terms. The latest game from the studio ‘Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty’ is proving to be one of the team’s most successful yet; breaking Steam concurrent user records.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty released on the 3rd of March to a welcome reception from fans and critics alike, taking what worked from the Nioh series and building upon it. The primary point of contention comes from the game’s PC release, which introduces a bunch of platform-specific issues.

Despite these problems, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is proving to be a success, as the game has amassed a peak concurrent player count of 75,373 people – a new record for publisher Koei Tecmo.

This figure is even more impressive when compared to Team Ninja’s other games, with the likes of Nioh 2 seeing a maximum of 41,273 players and the first Nioh managing an even lower peak of just 10,588 concurrent players.

Team Ninja seems to be going from strength to strength, and as long as they are able to fix the PC issues players are currently encountering, Wo Long looks set to be their biggest game yet.
