One of the biggest generational leaps introduced with the PlayStation 5 was the DualSense controller – taking all of the features of previous peripherals and adding a whole host of additional hardware including adaptive triggers and precise haptic feedback. While PC adoption of the new controller has been slow, No Man’s Sky’s latest update has added full wireless DualSense support for all its features – a first on PC.
The unique features of the PS5’s DualSense controller have been adopted rather quickly by developers – at least for the PS5 versions of games. Despite its support on Steam, these bespoke features are less commonly implemented on PC even when using a DualSense controller, with the main workaround requiring users to plug in the controller and use it wired.
In a surprise move – and as reported by ResetEra user ‘mountainmohawk’ – the latest No Man’s Sky update brought with it full support for the DualSense controller, meaning both its adaptive triggers and advanced haptics are available and usable entirely wirelessly.
While there is no denying that Hello Games are one of the most dedicated development studios in the industry currently, hopefully other studios and games begin to offer such robust support for the controller. We will have to wait and see.
