PS5 sales in Europe increase by a massive 5X in February

Just recently we reported that the PlayStation 5 has been performing incredibly well thanks to supply shortages finally being sorted out. In the UK, the PS5 saw its sales grow by a huge 300% in February compared to the same month last year. Surprisingly, the console is doing even better in mainland Europe, with console sales increasing by a whopping 5X.

As reported by Gamesindustry.biz, the GSD released its latest dataset pertaining to the performance of the video games market in February 2023. The data released covers all sorts ranging from physical and digital game sales to accessories and of course console hardware.

In looking at the latter, we can see that the PlayStation continues to dominate 2023, with European sales for February putting the next-gen console at double the sales of the Nintendo Switch – with the Xbox Series X|S bringing in the rear at 3rd place.

Even more impressive than this however is the fact that Sony sold 5 times as many PS5 consoles in February 2023 when compared to the same time last year. Of course, it is worth noting that the PlayStation 5 suffered from major supply issues during the system’s first 2 years on the market – with 2023 said to be the first time that the console is available widely.

Even with these stipulations in mind, the PS5’s performance in 2023 is incredibly impressive and as such it will be interesting to see just how many consoles Sony manages to sell this year.
