In February, Sony began publicly testing Discord voice chat on PS5 consoles through its beta software program. Now just a few weeks later, the feature is ready and is now rolling out to everyone.
Those who own a PS5 can now use Discord voice chat on the console, just as you can on Xbox. However, for now at least, you will need to connect to a call from your phone or PC and then transfer it to your console with the press of a button. This is an extra step that was previously present with Discord for Xbox too, although later updates removed the need for additional devices to join calls. Perhaps we'll see the same on PlayStation 5 later in the year.
Aside from Discord integration improvements, the latest PS5 software update also brings improvements to 1440p mode, enabling Variable Refresh Rate on compatible screens. You should also be able to use 1440p on a wider range of monitors too.
Finally, this update also expands the list of ‘Hey PlayStation' voice commands. With the new update, users can now use the microphone on their DualSense controller to ask the console to save a clip.

KitGuru Says: Will you be using Discord on your PS5? In the current age of crossplay gaming, it will certainly be handy to have access to Discord on consoles. Perhaps we'll see it appear on Nintendo's next console too.
