AMD FSR 2.2 plugin is now available for Unreal Engine 5

AMD FSR 2.2 has been available for some time, but an Unreal Engine plugin had yet to be made available to developers. That is finally changing, with the plugin now available to make FSR implementation easier for developers using the engine.

FSR 2.2 has been around for two months already, but the number of supported titles is limited, with F1 22, Forza Horizon 5 and NFS Unbound making the list. Now with the launch of the Unreal Engine plugin, more developers should implement the tech and we should see the list of supported titles grow significantly in the year ahead.

Besides all the improvements brought by FSR 2.0, the FSR 2.2 plugin also brings features like:

  • Support for Unreal Engine 5.1.
  • General improvements from FSR 2.2 to tackle ghosting.
  • Improved handling of ghosting for objects with World Position Offsets – more objects with WPO should render velocity by default.
    • This improves the appearance of animated foliage (depending on developer settings).
    • Slightly different process to improve ghosting on animated materials.

According to AMD, 250 games (available and upcoming) support FSR 1 or FSR 2. Still, of these 250, only 110 support FSR 2. Throughout this year, the list of games supporting the technology should increase. Still, once AMD FSR 3 releases later this year, developers will most likely focus on the latest version.

KitGuru says: With the plugin now available, we should see the improved version of FSR implemented more widely.
