Galax RTX 4090 overclocked to 3.7GHz breaks world record

Recent leaks have shown that Galax is working on an RTX 4090 HOF edition graphics card. Now ahead of launch, this very graphics card has been used to break a world record, with overclocker ‘OGS' pushing the GPU to 3.7GHz.

The Galax RTX 4090 HOF isn't like your average RTX 4090 card. It features two 16-pin power connectors for maximum “overclockability”, proving to be a step above the rest. OGS used this card to break two world records and set a record-high RTX 4090 GPU clock speed.

Pairing the card with a ROG Maximus Z790 APEX, a Core i9-13900K, and 32GB of DDR5-6400 (CL32-39-39-102) and LN2 cooling, OGS was able to push the card up to 3,705MHz. That allowed the GPU score to complete the GPUPI benchmark in 49secs and 49ms, 8 seconds faster than the second place.

Then with the GPU overclocked to 3,570MHz, the card set a new record score on the Port Royale benchmark, scoring 31,096 points, 1035 points above the second-best entry.

The Galax HOF RTX 4090 is one of the first custom models built around overclocking and unlocking maximum performance. Usually, we only see a few of these cards each generation, so we may see some competitors over the next year.

KitGuru says: We still don't have a release date or any pricing information, but given this card's focus on overclocking performance, it is likely going to be one of the more expensive RTX 4090s out there.
