Earlier this summer, the developers behind the Yakuza series confirmed plans to announce a new game at the Tokyo Game Show, which takes place later this month. Since then, fans discovered a new SEGA trademark filing for a mysterious game called ‘Yakuza Wars'. Unfortunately for fans of the game on console and PC, a new discovery has now come to light – Yakuza Wars is a mobile game.
Over in China, the official Facebook page for Yakuza Wars has already been set up, including artwork, which you can see below, and a brief description of the game, confirming that the title is destined for smartphones.
This is Sega's “first officially licensed ‘Like a Dragon' mobile game”. The page describes it as a “classic gangster-themed masterpiece for mobile phones, creating innovative strategic war gameplay”.
Characters like Kiryu, Ichiban and Majima will appear in the game, but so far, we have not been able to find any actual gameplay, with currently-available trailers sticking to showcasing art, which gets me wondering about potential Gatcha mechanics.
There is no word on when the game will be available, or if it will even release worldwide, or be limited to specific regions. However, with the Tokyo Game Show happening later this month, we won't have to wait very long to find out.

KitGuru Says: As with any mobile game, the aggressiveness of the monetisation will play a key role in how accessible the game is to a wider, global audience.
