Naughty Dog says The Last of Us Steam Deck verification is coming

While Valve did put an image of The Last of Us Part 1 running on a Steam Deck on the Steam store shortly before the game's launch, the game has yet to be verified for the Deck. While Naughty Dog was and still is planning to submit the game for Deck verification, the team has had to reprioritise in the wake of the game's rocky PC launch.

The Last of Us Part 1 unfortunately did not arrive on PC in great shape, with many players criticising the game for bugs, crashes and performance issues. This led to a ‘mostly negative' rating for the game on Steam, based on thousands of customer reviews.

Naughty Dog has already released a couple of patches and is planning more updates to get the game in shape. The first couple of patches have seemingly led to a rise in review scores, moving the needle from ‘mostly negative' at launch to ‘mixed' at the time of publishing, based on almost 15,000 reviews.

Explaining the lack of Steam Deck verification, Naughty Dog explained on Twitter that it is “prioritising fixes and patches before submitting for verification”. Still, even without verification from Valve, players are free to install The Last of Us Part 1 on their Steam Decks and any patches made to fix the game should benefit you, whether you are playing on the Deck or a PC.

Naughty Dog will hopefully have an update on the game's Steam Deck verification status in the weeks ahead after a bit more patching.
