Blizzard unveils new Overwatch 2 support hero ‘Lifeweaver’

Last night, Blizzard teased Overwatch 2's next hero, Lifeweaver, a new support character with healing abilities. At the time, the studio planned to reveal the full extent of the new character and their powers in an update later this week, but an embargoed article went live early, revealing all the details.

As spotted by PCGamer, PCGN accidentally published their Lifeweaver overview article early, detailing the new hero's abilities. The new character is said to be similar to a Druid from World of Warcraft, but with a Sci-Fi twist. In Overwatch lore, Lifeweaver uses ‘Biolight' in battle, an alternative to Symmetra's Hardlight technology.

Lifeweaver is capable of creating a petal platform that teammates can stand on and be boosted up into the air. While in the air, Lifeweaver can pull teammates back, helping them to escape danger. It seems to be a support-oriented version of Roadhog's hook ability. If Lifeweaver is taking too much fire, you can use Rejeuvinating Dash to quickly escape line of fire and heal up at the same time.

Lifeweaver's ultimate is called Tree of Life, spawning in a tree that teammates can stand behind to avoid damage, and healing all allies in a certain radius of the tree. If Lifeweaver is killed, they essentially drop a health pack, which can be used by a player on either team, so Lifeweaver players will need to keep lines of communication open with teammates so you can avoid giving the enemy free health.

Lifeweaver will be available as part of Overwatch 2's next season pass.

KitGuru Says: Lifeweaver's abilities are quite unique, but we don't know how much damage and healing they can do compared to other heroes. As usual, it may take a while for Blizzard to find the right balance, so expect to see some tweaks after the initial debut.
