After a great deal of anticipation, Resident Evil 4 Remake is finally here to the delight of both fans and critics alike. Those wanting to play the game’s Mercenaries mode will need to wait for a little while longer, with Capcom previously announcing it to be coming as free post-launch DLC. This was already known, however, fortunately we now know exactly when this DLC will drop: The 7th of April.
As part of Resident Evil 4 Remake’s launch trailer, Capcom announced that the much-loved ‘The Mercenaries’ mode would be arriving free for all via a post-launch update on the 7th of April – just two weeks after the base game’s release.
For the uninitiated The Mercenaries was an unlockable minigame in the original RE4 which was made available after completing the main story campaign. The Mercenaries saw players engage in somewhat of a horde mode where the objective was to kill as many enemies and earn as many points as possible before the evacuation helicopter arrives – with combos playing a major role in the gameplay.
It will be interesting to see how the mode compares to the original, and whether it will be expanded upon (as we have seen with the remake of the base game itself). Finally, it is unknown whether players will once again need to finish the main game before The Mercenaries is unlocked – though considering it is arriving 2 weeks after the game’s launch, most players will likely have completed the story by that point regardless.
