After years of development and a couple of delays, Daedalic Entertainment is finally set to release its Lord of the Rings game. Focused on Gollum, the new title will be the first in a new wave of LOTR-based projects, with many more games on the way.
After acquiring Middle-Earth Enterprises in 2022, Embracer Group has confirmed that five LOTR games are in the works. Daedalic Entertainment's The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is one of them. It will be releasing on the 25th of May for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 and PS5. Later in the year, the game should also launch on Nintendo Switch.
Previous impressions of this Gollum game have not been entirely positive, so it might be best to keep expectations for this game in check.
The game will put players in the shoes of Gollum, searching for the Ring while trying to evade danger. You can get a feel for the story in the latest trailer for the game, which dropped a few weeks ago. The trailer also gives you a look at the in-game visuals, which ‘aren't final', but given how close launch is, we wouldn't expect the graphics to improve much.
