Naughty Dog investigating ‘known issues’ with The Last of Us Part 1 on PC

The Last of Us Part 1 finally launched on PC earlier this week, but despite a one-month delay, the game did not arrive in a fit state. Unfortunately, players are facing crashes, numerous bugs and performance problems on a range of PC setups, but the first patch is now rolling out to kick off the process of making things right.

The Last of Us Part 1 had plenty of hype leading up to its PC release, in part thanks to the recent success of the live-action HBO series based on the game, and in part due to the fact that The Last of Us is one of PlayStation's biggest IP, and it is finally leaving the confines of console. Unfortunately, the game launched to ‘Mostly Negative' reviews on Steam due to its buggy state.

The first patch for the game is now rolling out on PC, fixing “several performance & hitch-related issues” and expanding the amount of crash diagnostic data collected as the team investigates the other lingering issues.

Speaking of lingering issues, Naughty Dog has shared a list of problems it is currently investigating, including memory leaks, graphics driver instability, performance issues and lengthy wait times for shader loading.

Naughty Dog has continued to support PC in the future too, so the team might have other games on the way at some point. For now though, there's plenty of work left to do to get The Last of Us into shape.
