Back in late 2020, Mark Darrah, a long-time producer at BioWare, decided to leave the studio. Now, as development for the next Dragon Age is reaching its final stretch, Darrah is returning, albeit in a smaller role.
According to VentureBeat, Mark Darrah is returning to BioWare as a consultant, working on the next Dragon Age game. Dragon Age: Dreadwolf was already in development when Darrah left the studio back in 2020. At the time, Darrah said that Dragon Age would “thrive” without him. Given that he is now returning for the final stretch of development, we have to wonder if Dragon Age really did thrive while he was away.
EA announced Dragon Age: Dreadwolf a couple of years ago at The Game Awards. While rumours indicated that the game was due to release in 2023, insiders now view 2024 as a more likely release window for the game. With that said, we should hopefully get our first look at the game in action before the end of the year.
Aside from Dragon Age, BioWare is also currently working on a return to the Mass Effect series, potentially with plans for a full new trilogy separate from the events of Mass Effect Andromeda.
