Nintendo is now offering free Joy-Con repairs in Europe

Since the Switch's first year on the market, Nintendo has faced criticism for the design of its Joy-Cons due to persistent stick drift issues. A number of lawsuits were filed and Nintendo did make some efforts to try and alleviate the problem, but it was never really stamped out completely. Now, Nintendo is finally offering free Joy-Con repair services.

In the UK, European Economic Area and Switzerland, Nintendo will now offer free Joy-Con repair services, even if your controllers are out of the warranty period.

“Until further notice, Nintendo will not charge you in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK and Switzerland for the repair of the responsiveness syndrome irrespective of whether this is caused by a defect or by wear and tear”, a quote from Nintendo's support page reads.

Nintendo has quietly offered free Joy-Con repairs in some areas before, including the UK. However, now it is part of the company's official repair policy, so if your Joy-Cons start suffering from drifting issues or become unresponsive, you'll be able to get them repaired for free.

KitGuru Says: This is a policy that should have been put in place a long time ago. I've had a Switch since launch and my Joy-Cons became unusable after two years, forcing me to buy a new pair. That pair also went on to develop drifting issues and as of now, I am on my third set of Joy-Cons. Do many of you own a Nintendo Switch? Have you faced the dreaded stick drift problem?
