Back in May of last year EA officially confirmed that it had parted ways with the FIFA brand following a decades long partnership, with the series’ future entries being renamed to EA Sports FC. Ahead of this years’ title’s official unveiling, EA have shown off the rebranded name, logo and more.
Making the announcement on their revamped website, the publisher teased that “EA SPORTS FC is the next chapter in The World’s Game. We can’t wait to show you the future of football, sign up below to be one of the first to Join the Club in July.”
For those fearing that the split with FIFA would limit the content available, EA teased the partnerships they have managed to secure, including “Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Women's Champions League, La Liga Santander, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Serie A, CONMEBOL Libertadores, Barclays Women's Super League, NWSL and many more.”
While we have yet to see the game itself, EA did offer insight into the series’ new logo, explaining that “Our new brand identity is inspired by the triangles that have been part of EA SPORTS football for the past 30 years, from the isometric polygons that make up our game to the chemistry triangles that exist in Ultimate Team to the player indicator across every match. The triangle has revolutionized football again and again since the birth of Total Football in the 70’s, now it can serve as a proud badge for the evolutions of football to come.”
Branding aside, it is hard to believe that this year’s EA Sports FC will be too different from previous entries – especially as the game remains an annualised series. That said, I guess we will have to wait and see when the game is officially shown off this July.
