Respawn head wants to see Titanfall 3, but the ‘right idea’ hasn’t come along yet

Titanfall 2 had a bad launch financially speaking, an issue mostly brought on by EA's insistence to release the game in Q4, right in the middle of Call of Duty and a major Battlefield game. Still, everyone who did play the game had glowing praise, especially for its campaign. There have been fans asking for Titanfall 3 for years and now, Vince Zampella is joining them.

Vince Zampella is a founder and CEO of Respawn and has since gone on to take on additional duties after joining EA. In a recent interview with Barron's (via VGC), Zampella was asked if he'd like to see Titanfall 3 happen, to which he replied: “I hate to say yes, then people latch onto that, and then skewer you when it doesn’t come. But I would love to see it happen is the real answer.”

Whether or not Titanfall 3 can get off the ground anytime soon is another story. Apex Legends continues to be Respawn's main focus, and the studio's other teams are working on projects like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

In the interview, Zampella pointed out that Apex Legends sharing the Titanfall universe could complicate matters too: “Apex is the Titanfall universe, right? There’s how do you do something that doesn’t confuse people that are Apex fans, but not necessarily Titanfall fans yet. It’s a hard question to answer, but ultimately I would love to see something.”

KitGuru Says: While Titanfall 2 underperformed, the game was released at a poor time and a huge number of people who have since tried it have come away with positive things to say. With that in mind, I do hope that Respawn gets a chance to return to Titanfall some day.
