The next Xbox OS update is beginning to roll out and this time around, it looks like Microsoft has new search features available to make finding games less of a chore, as well as additional power-saving features, an area that Microsoft has been sharply focused on in recent months.
First up is the refreshed Xbox search experience. This new search function allows users to find their next favourite game, movie, or app more easily. It has a sleek new design, gallery-style results, and visible filter categories that can be navigated with RB/LB. Also, users can now search for videos on YouTube within the Movies & TV tab. You can access the new search function by tapping the search button on the top of the dashboard, finding the magnifying glass icon within the guide, or pressing Y on your controller anywhere within the console UI. Whatever suits you best.
The second feature in the April update is the adjustable active hours power setting found under Settings > General > Power options. By selecting the Sleep power option, users can adjust active hours to have the console ready to wake up when they're most likely to use it and shut down at specific times to save energy.
When the console's active hours are over for the day, it will fully shut down and draw only 0.5 W, compared to the 10-15 W it consumes while active. During selected active hours, the Xbox will boot up quickly and be available for activities like Remote Play and mobile game installs.
