Dying Light 2 released last year to somewhat mixed reviews, with the game being praised for the expansion of its parkour and gameplay mechanics, though ultimately fell short due to story issues, some technical problems and an overall lack of revolution from the first game. That said, the Techland team are known for their long-term support, and as part of it, Dying Light 2 is getting a new free patch in the form of the ‘Gut Feeling Update’.
Making the announcement via a short trailer released by IGN, Techland unveiled the ‘Gut Feeling Update’. Arriving tomorrow on the 20th of April, this free patch features “major combat and physics improvements” with “bloody new ways to dismember the limbs of foes.”
Though somewhat odd in a first-person game, Dying Light 2 is also getting a gear transmog system, allowing you to dress up however you’d like without impacting the gear’s stats. The update also brings with it a new weapon crafting system as well as a two-week-long ‘Viral Rush’ event which will run from the 20th of April to the 4th of May.
Finally, the Gut Feeling update also adds a new Pilgrim Outpost which will allow you to track community events, activate bounties and obtain Pilgrim Tokens.
It is interesting to see the Gut Feeling update release right around the same time as Dead Island 2 – especially as the latter title had made a point of advertising its FLESH system (Fully Locational Evisceration System for Humanoids). Hopefully the update does not cannibalise the sales of Dead Island 2 – and vice-versa.
