Unlike Microsoft with Xbox Game Pass, Sony does not bring its first-party titles to the console manufacturer’s PlayStation Plus subscription service at launch. Despite this, Sony has been rather good with adding partner titles day-one to PS Plus. Such is the case with the action-platforming and puzzle-strategy game Humanity from Enhance – which is arriving on launch day to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium.
Making the announcement on the PlayStation Blog, Mark MacDonald, the Executive Producer at Enhance, said “Move over ‘International Pickle Day,’ May 16 has a new number one claim to fame: it’s the launch day for Humanity! Better yet, it’ll be available on Day 1 as part of the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog’s May lineup, available at no additional cost to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members.”
For the uninitiated, Humanity is puzzle game which sees you take control of a shiba inu, “placing commands on the ground for a giant marching horde of people to follow,” making them “turn, jump, float through the air, swim, climb, etc., all to reach the goal (or goals) in each stage.”
Speaking on the reasons behind its PS Plus inclusion, the Enhance team claimed that “of course we want as many folks as possible to enjoy Humanity’s 90-plus stage single-player Story Mode, but the most exciting part of launching into PlayStation Plus Game Catalog is it guarantees a massive audience for our game’s robust user-generated content features: a ton of players will be out there creating, sharing, and playing each other’s custom-built stages, right from day one.”
Bringing a game as unique and weird as Humanity to PlayStation Plus should help introduce the title to a much wider audience of people who might otherwise never know of its existence.
