Nvidia's DLSS technology is rapidly approaching a major milestone, having been included in nearly 300 games and apps. Nvidia inches closer to that goal this week, with three more games adding DLSS 2 support, and the recent PC version of Returnal is upgrading to DLSS 3.
As of today, you can now use DLSS 3 in Returnal, which can multiply performance when using an RTX 40 series graphics card. Nvidia claims a 2.2X frame rate increase with DLSS 3 enabled on the RTX 4090, paving the way for 180FPS at 4K. The RTX 4080 also fared well in Nvidia's benchmark, scoring 140FPS with DLSS 3 enabled.
Aside from Returnal, a few other games are also getting DLSS upgrades today. DLSS 2 is now available in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, Monster Energy Supercross – The Official Videogame 6 and Gun Jam.
This week also brings the announcement of RTX support for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, a new game set in Tolkien's universe, releasing on the 25th of May. The game will support multiple GeForce technologies at release, including DLSS 3 and DLSS 2, as well as Nvidia Reflex to reduce latency and improve responsiveness.
