PAC-MAN 99 is being delisted

As part of Nintendo Switch Online’s service, a number of exclusive games have been released to subscribers, including the highly popular Tetris 99. Following in its footsteps was PAC-MAN 99. Unfortunately, it seems to have not succeeded in the way Nintendo was hoping, as they have now announced that the game is set to be delisted later this year.

As reported by Gematsu, a little over two years following its launch, PAC-MAN 99 is set to be delisted from the eShop on the 8th of October. Fortunately, those who upgraded by purchasing the ‘Deluxe Pack’ or ‘Mode Unlock’ will be able to play offline even once the service has ended. With that said, the timeline for PAC-MAN 99’s EoL is as follows:

  • August 8, 2023 at 4PM UK Time – Discontinued content: Paid custom themes
  • September 8, 2023 at 4PM UK Time – Discontinued content: PAC-MAN 99 Deluxe Pack / PAC-MAN 99 Mode Unlock
  • October 9, 2023 at 5AM UK Time – Discontinuation of online services for the main game / distribution of the main game and free custom themes

For the uninitiated, PAC-MAN 99 is/was a recreation of the classic arcade title, but with 98 other players as opponents, requiring you to “eat Power Pellets to turn the ghosts blue and make them vulnerable. Eat them to send Jammer PAC-MAN to your opponents! The more ghosts you eat, the more Jammers you'll send!”

Though certainly not as popular as Tetris 99, it is a shame nonetheless to see PAC-MAN 99 being delisted.
