Amazon’s Western release for Blue Protocol delayed to 2024

Amazon Games teamed up with Bandai Namco to bring the anime-inspired MMO Blue Protocol to the West in 2023. Unfortunately, the game needs more time, so while it will still release in Japan this year, the Western version won't arrive until 2024.

Amazon has worked to bring other popular Asia-only online games to the West before, with Lost Ark being the most successful example. Blue Protocol is due to release in Japan on the 14th of June, but the rest of the world will have to wait a while longer.

Amazon Games announced plans to publish Blue Protocol outside of Asia in December last year. The game will be heading not just to PC, but to Xbox Series X/S and PS5 too. The game's PC system requirements have already been announced:

Minimum:

  • OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
  • Processor: Intel  Core i3-4340 or AMD FX-6300
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA Geforce GTX660 (2GB) or AMD Radeon R7 370 (2GB)
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage: 40 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: Internet connection required to play, offers in-game purchases

Recommended:

  • OS: Windows 10/11 (64-bit)
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-11700 or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia Geforce RTX 2070 Super (8GB) or AMD Radeon RX5700XT (8GB)
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage: 40 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: Internet connection required to play, offers in-game purchases

We don't have a new release window for Blue Protocol, but hopefully we'll hear more before the end of the year.

KitGuru Says: Lost Ark had a very successful launch in the West and in recent years, anime-style games like Genshin Impact have proven to be very popular. With that in mind, it'll be interesting to see the reaction to Blue Protocol when it does eventually arrive in 2024.
