Trackmania comes to consoles and Amazon Luna today

Nearly 3 years after the game debuted on the Epic Games Store as well as Ubisoft Connect in July 2020, the free-to-play Trackmania reboot (known simply as ‘Trackmania’) dropped onto Steam back in February of this year. Now, the title is making its way to consoles (and Amazon Luna), with the game being made available from today.

Making the announcement on their blog, Ubisoft said, “Starting on May 15th, you will be able to play Trackmania FOR FREE on your favourite console: Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, and on Amazon Luna.”

As is the case with many Ubisoft titles, Trackmania offers full crossplay and cross progression – a must-have for free-to-play games. The team concluded by saying “You will join a community with millions of players, play endless community-made events and tracks, and express your creativity with the powerful track editor and innovative social features. We can’t wait to play with you online on May 15th!”

For the uninitiated, Trackmania as a series sees players take control of fast and agile cars with the aim of surviving the game’s increasingly creative, weird and unique track layouts. This creativity is nearly limitless as thanks to the game’s focus on user-generated content, Trackmania has more than 280,000 tracks available right now – with more being crafted daily.

Free-to-play games need as wide a reach as possible, and so it is encouraging to see Trackmania coming to as many systems as possible.
