HIDEO KOJIMA: CONNECTING WORLDS documentary trailer released

Hideo Kojima is one of the biggest names in the video games industry, not only thanks to his impressive repertoire of work over the past 3 decades, but also due to his tumultuous time within the industry. A couple weeks ago the creator announced ‘Hideo Kojima: Connecting Worlds’ a documentary which will give “rare insight into Hideo Kojima’s childhood as well as his creative process from launching his own independent studio and creating DEATH STRANDING”. Now, we have our first proper look at the project.

Releasing a trailer to YouTube, Kojima Productions officially showed off HIDEO KOJIMA: CONNECTING WORLDS – “a documentary film that takes you on a journey into the creative mind of the most iconic video game creator in the world.”

The description for the documentary reads as follows: “Widely regarded as the first auteur of video games, this visually captivating documentary gives a rare insight into Hideo Kojima's creative process as he launches his own independent studio.”

It continues, “Featuring contributions from visionary artists such as Guillermo del Toro, Nicholas Winding Refn, Grimes, George Miller, Norman Reedus, Woodkid, Chvrches and many others, this thoughtful film explores the power and potential of video games as an art form through the work of an influential talent revered by millions worldwide.”

Video game development has historically been rather secretive. That said, in recent years we have been given a greater insight into many studios’ creative and business processes. It is therefore exciting to finally be getting an in-depth look into the mind of Kojima.
