Assassin’s Creed Mirage feels like a tribute to the original game

While we were expecting Ubisoft to save its Assassin's Creed news for its own showcase in June, the company ended up dropping the Assassin's Creed Mirage release date and gameplay trailer last night during the PlayStation Showcase. The trailer confirms exactly what we learned through recent leaks – the game is coming out in October.

Assassin's Creed Mirage drops the recent RPG elements of the series and goes back to its roots. Starring Bassim, who players will recognise from Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Mirage is set in 9th Century Baghdad and is poised to be a “tribute to the first Assassin's Creed”.

A tribute to the original game that kicked this all off is an apt description judging by the trailer. Basim dons the classic Assassin robes and gameplay-wise, the game looks to utilise the same mechanics we saw prior to Assassin's Creed Origins.

There are some upgrades in place, such as the ability to mark multiple targets for quick, multi-kill assassinations. Pole Vaulting is also present now to give the parkour a bit more flavour.

Assassin's Creed Mirage is due to release for PC, PlayStation and Xbox on the 12th of October.
