Dead Cells may have initially launched all the way back in 2018, but the rogue-lite metroidvania-inspired action platformer featuring fast and frantic combat (alongside a near endless number of unique weapons) has only gone from strength to strength with each new update and piece of DLC. Following the release of the Return to Castlevania crossover, the team have revealed that Dead Cells has now sold over 10 million copies.
Making the 10 million sales figure announcement via a press release, the team at Motion Twin said “The consecutive launch of the 1.0 version on PC & consoles in 2018, a whopping 34 free updates and later launches on mobile have all helped to drive long-tail success in all major global territories, pushing the game into rarely charted sales territory for an independent title.”
10 million copies for any title is a huge achievement, let alone for an indie game. This long-term support from fans is being equally rewarded by the developers as they have now confirmed that Dead Cells will see continuous updates until at least 2025 – 8 years after its initial release.
Dead Cells is an excellent title and if you haven yet to try it then now is as good a time as any to do so.
