Samsung, the world's number 2 handset maker are expecting to sell up to 25 million smartphones this year which has exceeded their earlier estimations of 18 million units.
JK Shin, the leader of Samsung's Mobile Communications division has told reporters at the IFA trade show in Berlin that the 2010 Smartphone sales would be much higher than the original target they set for 18 million units – this is down to the massive popularity of the Android based Galaxy S model.
The Galaxy S is an incredibly popular phone which is taking the world by storm and poses a big threat to Apple's iPhone. “Our smartphone shipments will easily surpass 20 million units this year, thanks to strong sales of recently released Galaxy S… We expect the number could rise to as high as 25 million this year,” Shin said.
“Galaxy S is definitely opening the smartphone sector for Samsung Mobile… It's overperforming our expectation,” YH Lee, head of marketing at Samsung Mobile, told Reuters in Berlin on Thursday.

I have had one for about a week now. And I would say it is better then what I expected. It is fast and very smooth. The 4″ screen is real nice, not too big, and not too small. I love it.
