Almost everyone today has a Flash drive sitting on their computer desk, after all they are invaluable for moving data between work and home or to pass files between friends. Another important use for USB drives is to back up sensitive and important data, which leads me nicely into the product we have for review today – The Corsair Flash Survivor GTR 32GB USB Flash Drive.

  1. I have the 16gb drive ! its awesome, had it for a few months now, but I always feel safe with my files on it.

  2. I find putting sensitive or important files on a portable USB drive is silly. If you drop it or lose it for instance, someone has all the info they need on you for identify theft.!

  3. Hey Eric, maybe when they release the next one they will put a homing beacon on it for people who drop em? lol 🙂

  4. I actually need to get one of these, I have a USB drive which I use for work, and moving files home, and its so painfully slow I almost lose the will to live. Id rather get work to pay for it, but fat chance.

  5. I had a 32GB GT die after 3 weeks, they replaced it with a GTR, it is noticably quicker albeit significantly longer (I cannot see myself keeping this on my keyring any more which was why I got the survivor in the first place). Hopefully it is noticably more reliable too!

  6. I have the original 32GB drive (blue one). It was in my shirt pocket when I got into a car accident. The drive went through the windshield and flew another 100 feet down the road. My wife found it on the highway sitting on the ground. The outside case had a few dents in it and some scratches, but the thing works like a bomb and all my data was still there. Ordered the new 64GB GTR today, strongly recommended.

  7. that is a hell of a story, I have passed this onto Corsair. glad you are ok !

  8. Hey Eric K, If you have conerns about security, get an encrypted drive. I have a Corsait Padlock. It even has a key pad for a PIN code !
