Sea of Thieves gets Monkey Island crossover

Sea of Thieves has over the past half a decade amassed a dedicated audience of swashbuckling buccaneers, thanks in no small part to the game’s exciting crossovers. Following the massive Pirates of the Caribbean crossover back in 2021, Sea of Thieves is now set to get its next major collaboration – Sea of Thieves: The Legend of Monkey Island.

Announced during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, Sea of Thieves: The Legend of Monkey Island is the latest crossover, set to bring two pirate worlds together “to tell a new tall tale of Guybrush Threepwood’s adventures in the Sea of Thieves, featuring Guybrush, ghost pirate LeChuck, and more characters from the Monkey Island game series.”

Players will “get to visit freely explorable versions of both Mêlée Island and Monkey Island, solving puzzles in a point-and-click style adapted for Sea of Thieves first-person view – and it’ll all take place in the Sea of the Damned, so you’ll have no interruptions from other players as you relive the iconic series in a brand-new way.”

As with previous content updates, this upcoming crossover will be free, and consists of “three Tall Tales delivered in instalments”. Described as a “hilarious and heartfelt love-letter to the iconic Monkey Island adventure game series” the first of these three chapters will launch next month on the 20th of July. An interview featuring additional information can be found HERE.
