Final Fantasy XVI demo arriving today

While the notion of demos has fallen out of popularity in recent years, one of the few companies to consistently release demos for its games is Square Enix. Such is the case with the upcoming Final Fantasy XVI – offering a demo with hours of content and save data transfer.

Making the announcement via the PlayStation Blog, Clara Hertzog, the Content Communications Specialist for PlayStation said “Final Fantasy XVI fans, great news: while Final Fantasy XVI launches in just under two weeks, you’ll be able to commence your journey to Valisthea tomorrow as the game’s demo launches June 12.“

They continue, “The demo will give PlayStation 5 players a taste of the game’s vibrant world and fast-paced action combat with two lengthy sections showcasing what you can expect from FFXVI.”

The demo is set to offer quite a bit of content, with players first experiencing the opening prologue. Said to be roughly 2 and a half hours in length, you will receive “insight into Clive Rosfield’s past and the events that set him on his present day journey”. All progress from this prologue can be carried over into the main game’s full release.

Upon completing the prologue players will unlock a ‘Special Battle Demo’. While progress here will not carry over, the second half of the demo will feature “an infiltration of a fort at night, with Clive supported on his mission by his faithful wolf Torgal and Cidolfus Telamon”. The Final Fantasy XVI demo will unlock today at 9am UK Time (or your local equivalent).
