Back in December of last year the gun-focused souls-like Remnant II was announced during Geoff Keighley’s Game Awards show. The title has now made another appearance – this time at Keighley’s Summer Game Fest Kick Off – bringing with it a release date.
Announced via a gameplay trailer at the Summer Game Fest Kick Off, Remnant II, the sequel to 2019’s Remnant From the Ashes, has now gotten an official release date: the 25th of July 2023.
Launching in just over a month, Remnant II “pits survivors of humanity against new deadly creatures and god-like bosses across terrifying worlds” in which you can “play solo or co-op with two other friends to explore the depths of the unknown to stop an evil from destroying reality itself.”
While the first game was fun in its own right, Remnant 2 will improve upon the formula further, featuring an “expanded Archetype system [which] provides players with unique passive bonuses and stunning powers”. Additionally, “Branching quest lines, augments, crafting, and loot rewards will test the resolve of even the most hardened players in dynamically generated dungeons and areas.”
The first Remnant game offered satisfying gunplay with decent exploration and a unique aesthetic. It is exciting to see the team at Gunfire Games refining the Remnant experience further in both the gameplay and environmental departments – and that it will be available less than two months from now.
