KitGuru reported yesterday that Oracle would be hiring ex HP CEO Mark Hurd and today confirmation has came in that he will be replacing co-represident Charles Phillips, who resigned.
Ellison was very outspoken when Hewlett Packard removed Mark Hurd, calling the board ‘idiots‘.
“Mark did a brilliant job at HP and I expect he'll do even better at Oracle,” said Larry Ellison in a statement. Hewlett Packard have lost 13 percent in shares since Hurd resigned, specifically his business acumen which revitilised HP and cut their costs significantly.
Hurd made a statement yesterday saying “I believe Oracle's strategy of combining software with hardware will enable Oracle to beat IBM in both enterprise servers and storage”.
KitGuru says: This seems like a very positive move for Oracle who will utilise the considerable skill set of the EX HP CEO.
