Hi-Fi RUSH update to add multiple new game modes

One of the biggest surprises of 2023 so far has been Hi-Fi RUSH, with the Xbox console exclusive game getting announced and released on the same day to great fanfare thanks to its unique gameplay mechanics and punchy art style. A little under 5 months on from its release, the team at Tango Gameworks have now released their first big update, adding multiple new game modes and more.

Announced during Xbox’s extended showcase – and expanded upon via the Xbox Wire Blog – Hi-Fi RUSH is set to get its first major update next month. Dubbed the ‘Arcade Challenge Update’ this upcoming patch will bring with it two new game modes: ‘BMP RUSH!’ and ‘Power Up! Tower Up!’

Power Up! Tower Up! sees MC Chai being “downgraded and starts in a bad state…but you can upgrade him to bring him back!” with players being able to “select from random rewards to level up Chair between random enemy sets with some twists thrown in as well!”

BMP RUSH! meanwhile will require players to “take on endless enemies to build up your BPM gauge. Max it out to start a battle against special targets! Win and things start speeding up.”

Many fans were hoping to get more story content as part of this upcoming update. While it seems as though this will not be the case, the two new modes coming with the Arcade Challenge update expands on what Hi-Fi RUSH does best: offering unique BPM-based gameplay. The Arcade Challenge update will arrive on the 5th of July.
