Dead Cells – The Animated Series officially announced

Dead Cells may have initially launched all the way back in 2018, but the rogue-lite metroidvania-inspired action platformer featuring fast and frantic combat (alongside a near endless number of unique weapons) has only gone from strength to strength with each new update and piece of DLC. following the reveal that the game has officially sold over 10 million copies, a Dead Cells animated series has now been announced.

Releasing a brief teaser trailer, the team at Motion Twin officially announced Dead Cells – The Animated Series, saying “We are stoked to announce that after years of requests, an animated Dead Cells series IS DROPPING IN 2024!”

Being developed by Bobbypills (who has been in charge of all of Dead Cells’ previous animated trailers), the show is set on “a cursed island that has been racked by a strange plague” where “After the island’s foolish king develops a remedy that ends up turning the population into monstrous creatures, prophecies depicting a flame-headed hero who will kill the crazy King begin to appear.”

Offering additional information on the series itself, the team confirmed that the Dead Cells animated show will consist of 10 “roughly seven-minute long episodes” which “will initially be exclusive to France before being made available worldwide.”

Seeing the journey Motion Twin and Dead Cells has taken over these years has been highly encouraging and so hopefully the animated series winds up being just as good as the game itself.
