are Apple really going to sell 28 million iPads in 2011?

UBS Investment Research have estimated that Apple could sell 28 million iPads in 2011, causing delayed customer purchases of traditional notebooks.

“Sales of traditional notebooks appear to be feeling pressure from the iPad, causing a scramble by vendors to launch iPad-like tablets,” UBS Investment Research analyst Maynard Um said. “We believe that a majority of this impact is occurring on the lower end of PC sales as the iPad is priced close enough to this range that it becomes attractive to consumers looking to make purchases within this segment.”

Apple iPad - going to sell quite a few million more, according to analysts.

Apple seemed really happy with this theorectical situation and Apple COO Tim Cook said ““If it turns out that the iPad cannibalizes PCs that, I think, is fantastic for us because there is a lot of PCs to cannibalize, It's still a big market”.

Apple are finally meeting the demand for iPad sales with only a 24 hour delay now if you order online, down from a 3 week wait from a few months ago. In the third quarter of 2010 Apple have reported 3.27 million iPad sales.

KitGuru says: The greatest challenge to Apple over the coming months however is the launch of the new Android powered Samsung Galaxy Tab, a 7 inch product to capture the hearts of potential iPad customers. We already looked at the Dell Streak and walked away with positive impressions.
