Apple gameplan to target budget markets

Berstein Research analyst Toni Sacconaghi has had a meeting with acting Apple CEO Tim Cook, CFO Peter Oppenheimer and VP Eddy Cue and his report highlights some interesting plans for Apple to expand market share in the near future.

Sacconaghi's report highlights that Tim Cook has huge plans to expand the iPhones market share and that Apple will be developing lower priced offerings with some tricks to address the prepaid market. He has also said that Apple doesn't want their products to be geared totally for the wealthier audience.

Cook also said that Apple has invested ‘huge energy' in the large prepaid markets such as China to further expansion desires. The tablet market is also indicated to be a potential $60-$100 billion business model for Apple and that they have a huge head start on the competition with even better products in the pipeline.

Sacconaghi also reported that Apple are expanding their carrier support, and are putting a lot of focus into this for growth reasons and he said that the iPhone has expanded the sales of other Apple products, especially in emerging markets.

The main focus for Apple appears to be global expansion in the smartphone sector by creating models for the mass audience and by lowering the prices such as offering new solutions for prepaid customers. Rumours indicate a new iPhone ‘Nano' which will be stripped down iPhone with less storage capacity and a much lower price.
