Starfield’s first story expansion ‘Shattered Space’ revealed

Last week following Starfield Direct, Bethesda opened up pre-orders for the game and announced its various editions. One of the more expensive editions revealed something interesting – a Starfield story expansion is already planned.

Starfield will officially launch in September, offering a massive Sci-Fi adventure, sending players off to explore numerous planets in an effort to discover a new alien race. The base game is just the beginning though, like previous Bethesda RPGs, there will be a story expansion for Starfield.

Starfield's big expansion will be called ‘Shattered Space', but in an interview with IGN, director Todd Howard also revealed that the team has plans for a lot of other ‘add-on' content too, so we may also see some smaller DLCs. While the expansion assuredly won't be free, these smaller DLCs could potentially arrive in the form of free updates, as no season pass has been announced at this time.

It is also possible that these smaller DLCs will become part of the Creation Club, mixed in with paid content from third-party modders working on the game, similar to Skyrim Anniversary Edition and Fallout 4.

KitGuru Says: I tend to prefer having one big expansion compared to multiple smaller DLCs spread over the course of a year. From the sounds of it, this is Bethesda's plan for Starfield, although it will be interesting to see what comes from Howard's comments about smaller add-on content.
